Sounds good dude, its actually pretty nice having you around haha. Never thought I'd say that when you first got here though...

Yeah, bungy's departure was hard on all of us. I thought you were a troll at first, but I learned pretty quickly. Some people just got angry because they failed to understand your writing, which really only makes them look bad.

I dont think you backed it up with the review...i can see where the lyrics and bannon come in with the 1 but you dont make the music to be terrible enough, THAT at least has to be a redeeming factor...in short, its a 1 because Bannon writes fake lyrics?
|
| |
But he did literally write the lyrics. What a stupid argument.

also, i don't blame MJ for taking Kwame #1... i mean, if he didn't, someone would've taken him at #2, it's not like the dude wasn't completely hyped by everybody.
I don't blame you Michael, I don't blame you

So pretty much, the lyrics he writes arent really deep, just random bull that we embrace because we've all been through it?

I think his argument is more that the scene Converge came from shaped this album into what it is, and that the band
and Bannon are not responsible for this album. The album is written by no one in the sense that the hardcore scene
spawned it; Converge just happened to be the host that the album needed in order to come into conception.

That's one of the worst arguements I've ever heard, but for some reason the way you worded it gives it a little bit of credibility sniper.

^That's pretty much what I got. Also he's not literally saying Bannon didn't write down the lyrics, I think he's saying that through
the generality and the attempt to make the lyrics universal, he ultimately obscures the lyrics to a point where they have no
meaning or relevance. They might as well be written by no one.
Of course I completely disagree, but that's pretty much what I got out of his review.
edit: Meant to aim that at sniper's comment

I happen to disagree with MJ's assertions (if I am correct about what they are), but I think his perspective is really interesting, and definitely something I have thought about a lot since he posted this review. My only issue is that even if this was true, what bearing does it really have on the "classic" status of the album? It is a classic metalcore record even if it was spawned by the scene itself. It is the perfect incarnation of the scene, so why doesn't it deserve the highest rating possible?
Sorry to rant...

Because obscure lyrics make an album automatically bad, amirite?
And writing lyrics in a way that gets your point across, but also lets people relate is bad too.

Fuck. My soundoff for this pretty much states why I think it's so fucking brilliant.
edit: I didn't say I agreed with him. I was just stating what he was trying to get across. Jeez :/

Yeah, your soundoff was pretty much how I feel about this, bumped.
