The vocals are just as brutal only in a different style, and the music destroys the original.

This will most likely not even be in the top 10 of this year. There are too many good releases. However, this record is probably the best Fear Factory has ever made in their entire 20 year lifespan.

That's a great suggestion Powerban gave above, by suggesting to listen to particular songs before others in order to appreciate the rest of the album. This, as opposed, to listening to the album straight through and maybe having a more difficult time enjoying it as you'd hoped for.
To me, this is FF's finest since Demanufacture or maybe the album after. Having Gene Hoglan, who has been a favorite of mine since his days with Dark Angel and on, certainly does help. Nothing against Raymond who I think is a solid player.
This is my first comment on here so I don't know how to do some things yet; however, I do look forward to reviewing and commenting on the various albums that are on here, along with interacting with everyone. I just had to join this website after months of viewing and realizing that there really are others out there who take their music as seriously as I do.

Listening to this now for the first time. It's solid as a rock, but I can't help but feel that Bringer of Plagues had better Cazares stuff on it.

Really liked the title track, that's really cool. I wish Bell would switch up his vocal style a bit more, though - he has a fairly limited range.

Yeah, I don't know if he has anything more than the range he currently uses though. I guess he could at least re-introduce some death growls.

I saw a bit of Fear Factory at a festival in January. They played after Peaches, of all people! It was pretty fun, even though I'm a bit of a n00b to their music (ie anything inbetween this and Demanufacture that isn't the song "Archetype" I don't know).

I like all of their albums, actually, but they're nothing special. Their debut, Demanufacture and this one are the only really good ones (although I'm partial to the two remix albums too).
