I'm convinced. I think there are more good dm albums than any other genre I listen to.

I'm at a crossroads because thrash is a thing, and I loved it way before I loved death metal. That being said, these past two years of a dm resurgence have been one helluva ride. m/

I def dig dm more than anything. That's probably obvious though. But I'm kind of the opposite, I got into dm before thrash. I mean I knew some thrash bands but I didn't really care for most of it, aside from Testament and some Slayer. It was actually death/thrash that got me into thrash metal lol

Also lmao @ Backstreet Boys. Clearly best dm ever made.

There are definitely a lot of average DM albums, but that being said, There are more great DM albums than any other genre in my music library. OSDM is a genre that I always keep coming back to. When I'm in the right mood, nothing can beat it.

Yeah, I have a feeling my dm binge is permanent. I mean sometimes I jam other stuff, but there hasn't been a day that's gone by where I haven't jammed dm in god knows how long. Shit I'll throw some Immolation or something on to fall asleep to lol

Sometimes I consider listening to other genres or even play a song or two. Then I think 'WHERE ARE THE RIFFS (and brutal vocals)??' and I'm back

There are so many buried gems in death metal I could be digging for years and never get bored of the genre.

I agree with the general sentiment, there's so much out there I'm struggling to keep up and the quality of DM (on average) may have surpassed other genres for me. I can usually always find something to enjoy about a DM album.

No-one should be listening to Rivers of Nihil more than once, even though I did, but whatever. 3/5 means 'good' & this is good. In fact to counteract my previous point there's so much in the way of quality DM that the expected level has increased, thus rendering perfectly fine albums such as this one 'good'.
