I think that it is ironic that a whole mess of people think that Pink Floyd is stoner's music, while the band didn't really do any drugs that were out of the ordinary. I mean they smoke and they drank, and that's about it. Also, what makes it even more so is that Pink Floyd lost Syd to drugs.

Was Syd the only into them heavy? Because I was under the impression they all at least did acid, too. And to me that's heavy.

This album is really cool :] It definitely could be considered a good "beginners album" for a new Pink Floyd listener. Though it does get better. Animals and Wish You Were Here are, IMO, better than this album. The Wall...ehh, it comes pretty close to DSOTM. It has it's good points as well as it's bad points; a bit overrated is what I'd call The Wall though. It's still fantastic, like this album.

I listened to this like 10 times in the last couple days (yes.....2 1/2 of those times was to Wizard of Oz), and I've fallen in love.

You know what Pink Floyd album I dislike? The division bell. I mean it's not that bad but I just don't feel it.

What more can be said about this release? Its a classic in every way, shape, and form. It's one of the few albums that can be considered a climax of western music. Amazing.

This album is oh so overrated. it is one of Pink Floyds worst releases not counting some of their earlier work. The only reason this album gets such high ratings is because of it's influence in history and it's over hype that still goes on today. strictly looking at the music and not its effect in history, while this album is still a good enjoyable listen, it is crap compared to works like Animals, Wish You Were Here, and Meddle

In that regards it's slightly overrated.
