Who cares how good it is instrumentally if the songs are really good. I'd rather listen to some crappy guitarist who can write amazing songs than someone wanking off his guitar but without any songwriting talent.

i can kinda understand how people could find it boring, as none of it is as immediate as nevermind, but scentless apprentice and all apologies are two of my fav songs ever.

I really adored this album when I was in high school. Its extremely raw and unadulterated. A lot more edgy then anything else they made and really helped me find other music at the time. I can probably thank this album for pretty much connecting me to a whole range of bands, even if they're no way related.

nah, i didnt like in utero at first, but after repeated listenings i loved it. far better than nevermind imo (though i love that too).

Probably the only thing that stops this being a 5 is Dumb and the lack of smooth flow inbetween songs. A weird gripe, I know, but I like songs to flow into one another

i actually think it flows better than their other albums, its actually one of the reasons why i have it as a 5. i agree that dumb is one of the weaker songs, but i still like it.
