I guess I'm one of those "doesn't mind change" people. Between this and The Tropic Rot I've been happy with the releases of my two favorite bands.

I have a hard time deciding what I think of this album. As usual, Thrice record an album that features many brilliant parts (Circles, All the World is Mad, Wood and Wire) that don't add up to a concrete whole. I love how the album is more groove-oriented than prior releases, but something still doesn't click overall. I'll have to keep listening more until I decide how I feel about this.

PS - Review is very good. It makes a lot of multifaceted points about the music and Thrice's constant evolution as a band. I may write a review for this if I find some new words to say on the subject.

I feel that even Vheissu, though brilliant in most parts, still lacks something that would make it a 5/5 album. My point was that Thrice have come so close to making albums on that level, but minor things always prevent it from happening. This album is a perfect example.

really? this strikes me as totally complete and the way it swings between moods and tempos rules.

i agree about this lacking something though in terms of taking it to the next level and making it a 5 - said that in my review, they still haven't made their legacy album.

Doublespeak isn't only of the best tracks of this record, but one of the best of Thrice's whole carreer. You're out of your mind, Chan.

lacklustre is pretty much exactly the right word chan i think, but i DO enjoy the track, it's just very subdued.

Except it's not, and the chorus is really weak by Thrice standards. The only really good part about that song is the outro IMO.

I don't really understand the doublespeak hate. It's got such a cool bluesy vibe to it. So if anything it's solid.
