It caused him to look up the etymology of chimaira which piqued his love for greek mythology. He booked a first class ticket to Athens, leaving his life past life behind to enroll in the prestigious Kapodistrian University of Athens where he's lived ever since.

It was kind of like a gateway song into more extreme metal. Slipknot already had a ton of radio play so I never heard them like that, but Chimaira was this more "obscure" metal band with the non-stop double kick and the higher pitched heavy vocals.
Sounds silly to call them extreme metal now, but at the time they sounded heavier than anything I'd ever heard before.
