This album is a major snooze. I was really looking forward to it after reading this review, but I can't help but think that they sound like just another local band playing at the club down the street...nothing on this album seperates them from the most generic of metalcore for me...probably because to me, they are the most generic of metalcore. Opinions ftw right?

I don't really think they are the "most generic" metalcore band...that's a bit of a stretch considering the hundreds of bands that do nothing but hammer on pull off riffs with pedal tones and crap...

so fucking what if they sound like other bands? i mean i don't think they sound too terribly similar to lots of bands, but well yeah they're at least sort of similar to other popular post-hardcore and metalcore bands; that's what the majority of bands like that do - capitalize on what's popular. but even besides that, who fucking cares if it's generic? it sounds good, it's catchy, it sounds like something this band would make, and most of all, it's a good album for what it is.

Well tbh honest it was a bit unnecessary what with the ****ing and whatnot...plus they aren't capitalizing on what's popular...that's kind of something they are against...and they really aren't generic...they are one of the few "metalcore" bands around right now that have their own sound (just noticed chan already said that last bit but oh well)This Message Edited On 10.17.08

they're not generic within the confines of post-hardcore, but they do sound similar to a lot of bands, that's all i was saying. and it's retarded when people have a problem with a band just because they sound similar to other bands; what matter is if they're good or not.

i just basically disagree with your post, but i still love this album and might actually bump the rating, but i'll give it some more time. i still think DtGL owns this though

I just think a lot of the songs on this album sound like demos and are more like rough draft ideas for songs rather than well thought out ideas. Again, that's just my opinion. To me it just sounds like a step backwards and I think bands like Catatonic and Afreudianslip have been doing similar (at times even better) stuff for a little while now. Not that it's bad to be similar to other bands, but I just think people are fooling themselves if they think this album has anything new to offer. Maybe to them it does...but to the genre, certainly not.

Did you just look them up or something on myspace? In any case...if you're about to debate the substyles of a subgenre...go ahead...that doesn't change my attitude towards the blandness that is this album.

You mention The Created Void and A Fault Line, A Fault of Mine as the unmemorable tracks, but those 2 (along with The End is Near and Anyone Can Dig A Hole) provide some of the best moments on the album for me, especially the ends of both songs, and the accompanying clean electric guitar (the outro) in TCV just adds the icing to the cake.

Although some parts bore me, there are epic parts which make up for it in this album.

I like both this and DtGL equally. Seriously they both do it for me ;).
