its probably because people are so desperate for good metalcore that they hear decent musicianship and go ''OH WOW THE VOCALS ARE SURE TO BE GOOD'' and then when they hear them mind over matter kicks in

i tend to tune the vocals out after awhile, they're mixed at a level where it's easy to do that

The vocals aren't very original but they do the job, and I like how he really emphasises the lyrics. Also the clean vocals rule because unlike sh*tty bands like ATR they're only used in like, 2 songs.
