Okay yeah this is stunning. Headphones elevated the experience and delivered what I’d hoped it would
unusual in some ways to have a dream pop leaning artist actually sing in a more ‘traditional’ sense, but she has a wonderful voice and it works so well. Good pacing here with the ambient / light jazz parts. Nice production

Mysteries of Love is really hitting now. The sparser, subtler cuts on this are excellent. I’m trying not to say ethereal, but oops, that too

strongly considering a very(?) premature 4.5, oh boy this has such a magnificent aura
+ almost sure it nearly made me feel something, which is increasingly rare for such a soulless husk like myself

No, there is not. “The World Spins” takes it all.

Phenomenally seamless atmosphere. Like a warm embrace. And from my hazy memory banks it seems kinda unique. I’ve certainly never heard anything approaching this style performed so sublimely. Becoming one of “those” albums.
Inevitable bump incoming.

Seems plausible, for what it offers I certainly won’t be arguing with that
I don’t like to go overboard too early, but I think this is definitely a keeper

Understood
I 5'd this upon first listne, but I also know Falling, Rockin' Back Inside My Heart, and Mysteries of Love from their use in Twin Peaks/Blue Velvet previously so I guess it already was so familiar
All great songs yet none are in my top 3 for this album. That's how good this is

4. lower / 8. higher at the minute. Those other 5s are magnifique tho, what an album!
I imagine things will adjust slightly over time

Interesting to hear how much of an influence this was on artists like Chromatics

I figure that like 85% of people who make music that kinda sounds like this watched Twin Peaks.

Who’s Twin Peaks? Never heard of her!

It’s a TV show created by Mark Frost and the very well liked director David Lynch, who I believe to have had some creative force over Julee Cruise itself but certainly he stuffed the TV show full of JC (theme song is the second song on this album). The TV show was incredibly popular when it debuted in ~1990 and has never really died down in recent times—it feels like all my friends have watched it. V influential

This is a hot contender for the new revamped 5s collection that I will be sorting through early next year. It would be a bold move considering I only (apparently) discovered this back in June, but we'll see
I am yet to see a single ep of Twin Peaks
