this isn't that hard of an album to get into at all. its very inviting its only demanding quality is that you listen to it in full and not skip the brushstroke tracks as tempting as it sometimes is.

nah it's actually not a very accessible album generally. sure some find it easy to get into but it's easier to get into their more catchy albums first.

"...their music is progressive, strange, multi-instrumental, original, unique, and most of all, powerful."

Oh, yes.

pretty good so far. I don't like the vocals much, but the music is brilliant.

well the thing is, at some parts the music can be quite intense, but the vocals just stay the same with the semi-operatic, long sustaining notes. and I really don't understand why this is, but sometimes I think it would really fit the music if he put more sorta..umm...i guess grit into his vocals. Just make them sound sort of more down to earth. In the tracks I've heard the vocals just don't gain any agression when the music does. which is ok, but I don't know. I usually like sort of ethereal, reverberated operatic vocals, but I guess it's just different in this case.

I'll give my full opinion once I get through the album. Until then if anybody has any recs or reasons why they like the vocals, I'd like to hear.

I especially don't like the vocals on Sanzen.

The vocals are hypnotic at times and goes well with the theme of sleep paralysis that is presented throughout the whole album. I have no problem with Gavin's vocals at all.

^Agreed. There is more variation in Gavin's vocals on other albums. He was going for haunting and dreamlike to match the theme of this album.

If you want more "grit", then get Leitmotif. It's much heavier and grittier and is probably my second favorite dredg album.
