The Act and Color Decay -- moreso the latter -- definitely started catering a bit more to current mainstream 'core conventions and/or getting softer. Whether they do it well or not despite that is YMMV

I don't remember which song off Color Decay it was, but it was the most generic song I've ever heard

tbh i don't think putting an artist in a box and dictating what they can and can't sing about is particularly a great way to critique music but u do u my g (also it's still the top bumped soundoff so it's the first thing i see when i check the page, that's how lol)

Do users commonly go onto the soundoff pages for albums that have reviews? The only time I've ever found myself on a soundoff page is if I click on an album that doesn't have a review.

might just be me i like reading the funny shit people write on albums tho and i bump soundoffs i agree with regularly, i remember oh yeah one of the crits on the act was it was "too moody" when it was literally the appeal to me lol evidently we just want diff things and that's ok

If the box contains good music they should stay in the box

wouldnt say stuff like color decay is thinking out of the box rather than it is thinking within bring me the horizon's box, outside of hallucinate which whips and owns bones
the ballads on the act are mostly the same but the thread is money at least

lol I meant more so lyrically, that comment is especially funny because it forgets that albums like Dead Throne and 8:18 are just as moody while also being more akin to their earlier work so clearly lyrics aren't the problem
But I mean again we're just looking for different stuff. I'm a very vocal driven listener and for me a really emotional performance may transcend some issues that would feel more obvious with a less inspired performance ig, you can say all the hooks follow a similar pattern but for me thats not such a huge deal when they're delivered with such passion to me, and I'm not sure how much different melodies would have fit

The vocals are one of the worst things about their new stuff lmao

for me, it's still one of the biggest selling points, particularly Mike's more tired, weary and yet still very intensely emotional screams. Jeremy has probably seen better days but he still gives me a different dynamic like Prada always do. we'll have to agree to disagree

You’re right the lyrics are NOT the problem, it’s like I made the comment as a joke!
