It has some absolutely unrivalled, classic moments on it. Unfinished Sympathy, the vox on Big Wheel and one of me fave musical moments of all time ‘My AK rig goes boom boom, my AK rig goes boom’

music: i love this whole album, i think big wheel ends it perfectly and i have listened to it consistently for 25 years now. i can understand why the accents dont work for some people. personally i like it because so many people doing urban music outside the us were trying to copy the US artists. this album sounds like nothing else. the albums a journey. i love it.

legacy: this album would not even get close to being released by a record label today. just the idea of multiple different types of song, completely different styles, on the same album would be an instant no now.

never mind the uk being an urban backwater for hip hop globally, bristol was seen as the least cool place in the uk at that point. it had no real music legacy. to have the courage to rap/sing in their own bristol accents and have multiple styles of music is the albums real legacy. the difference between one love, symphony and big wheel is night and day and id love to know how they ended up with that track order.

perhaps it was easier back then because there was big empty musical holes to move into, i dont know, but this is a high bar for artistic creativity that you rarely see these days.

i haven't jammed their other albums yet but i'm definitely gonna check their last two albums as they're apparently a lot along the lines of mezzanine
