So I was stuck debating whether to see Thrice and Brand New or Chuck Ragan and Sundowner last night. Chuck/Sundowner won out merely because of price, and I almost feel jipped. Apparently, this was their setlist.
The Artist In The Ambulance
Firebeather
Kill Me Quickly
Silhouete
Digital Sea
Burn The Fleet
Stare At The Sun
Flags Of Dawn
The Whaler
Atlantic
Don't Tell And We Won't Ask
The Messenger
Deadbolt
The Earth Will Shake
THE WHALER AND FLAGS OF DAWN WTFFFFFFFF
But it's cool, because then Dustin made a surprise showing during Chuck Ragan and played a few acoustic songs. So meeting him and seeing that makes me feel a little better.

After my first listen, I'm pretty disappointed. Maybe it's all the hype or whatever, but nothing about this album was that impressive with the first listen. The concept isn't all that creative, and it just feels like they squeezed a bunch of songs with fire imagery in one cd, and another bunch of songs with water imagery in the other. I'm not impressed yet, but I'll give it a few more listens before I give it an actual rating.
Edit: Also, I really don't see the Radiohead connection in waterThis Message Edited On 11.27.07

Have you heard of this album called Kid A? I could understand if you hadn't because it was sort of an underground release. Listen to the song "Treefingers" from that album. The production on that song likely heavily influenced the production on the water disc.

I thought the Radiohead influence was pretty explicit.

I'm well aware of the album, I'm a big Radiohead fan. And Kid A wasn't an underground release. "Optimistic" was on commercial radio for a while. I just didn't feel this can be compared to Kid A. It imitates the style a little bit, but the connection doesn't scream out to me.This Message Edited On 11.28.07

Thrice was incredible live, the harmonies at the end of the whaler were spot on, I had to sit down because I couldnt handle the perfection

I liked it when I first got it but now I find it utterly boring.

Apparently sarcasm was an underground release though.

Ya that track is pretty sweet. They also cover John Lennon's "Happy Christmas (War Is Over)."
