seeing as how this catalyzed a sound that has basically become the face of black metal post-2000 and no act has yet managed to actually sound as good as this idk how you can really pick any band other than weakling

What kinds of bands has this directly influenced, Hyp? I haven't listened to this enough to be able to tell.

basically all cascadian black metal is derivative of this, bands like panopticon, i would even go as far as to say most of the "shoegazey/hipster/post-bm" whatever the hell its called now calls back to this album more often than not
alter of plagues basically copied this album on their initial few releases. the canadian black metal scene, with bands like sombres forĂȘts, miserere luminis, gris, etc. all owe everything they know to weakling.
this basically changed the landscape for black metal on a pretty wide scale.

The amount of sections in this that could almost be copied and pasted into wittr debut is pretty shocking. I love both albums, but yeah totally agree with hyp without this a lot of cascadian bm bands wouldnt sound the way they do.

What hype said is true, this album changed black metal (american bm especially), but that change didn't really happen until a few years later. It was quite a bit ahead of its time.

I wish Dispirit would quit derping around and release an album already. Rehearsal At Oboroten had a nice, suffocating black metal sound to it. Not too big on the doomier 111112, though.
