ok, well, you do have a bias against psych rock...but I don't think even your bias merits a rating of 1...that was just a spiteful message you were trying to relay. The immortality of the tracks Break On Through, Crystal Ship, Light My Fire, Back Door Man, and The End make the album deserve at least 3.
And to address your comments about how psych rock wasn't rock...what was more rebellious than leading an entire generation down a different path i society? Away from religion, away from sobriety, away from the literal. Morrison's words and stage antics, (and back stage), were more rock and roll than any commercial long haired poser from the 80s. If anything, it is them who are fake and lame!
And if you're going to say that The Doors Iron Butterfly, and Pink Floyd arent rok because they have deep and meaningful lyrics, then you're going to have to lump Led Zeppelin, EL&P, Jimmi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, and a whole mess of others.
I don't think you understand rock at all...

Ridiculous.
| | | I agree with alot of the stuff thats not complete biased bullshit.
Like along the lines of The Doors suck...and Jim Morrison is a pretentious asshat.

I love the doors.

Morrison was absolutely not th greatest man that walked the earth...but no one can deny that he was one of the most influential. His words were mysterious and haunting...and that caught people's attention.
And if it wasn't for him, the 70s would have been much different.
There's nothing wrong with public evaluation of society. That's the only way things change in the democratic government that we live in: USA, (so we still think).

hahaha! coolest review i've ever read on this site.
the worst bands of all time like Yes, Genesis, Kansas etc
[...]
You simply cannot call yourself a rock n’ roll fan if you enjoy The Doors, Sgt. Pepper era Beatles, Iron Butterfly, Pink Floyd, etc
wow, are you still here? please write a few reviews about Yes, Pink Floyd, Genesis and all those bands I love
aren't those bands you list like Pink Floyd, Beatles, Doors the definition of rock n' roll?
| | | Whoa, seems the easiest way to raise hell is to just make an incredibly biased, bullshit-filled review of a popular band, and shazam! Instant 16 pages of comments.
Oh yeah. Lemme jump on the bandwagon for a sec. Fuck you, hyperboleking.
| | | "You simply cannot call yourself a rock n’ roll fan if you enjoy The Doors, Sgt. Pepper era Beatles, Iron Butterfly, Pink Floyd, etc."
What if someone likes more than one style of music? What if someone likes the Rolling Stones and the Doors? Who are you to say what rock n' roll is and isn't? And what is wrong with Pink Floyd? Music can't be intelligent? You're basically saying that music has to be one thing and can't be anything else. Hardly what I call the truth; more like your closeminded opinion.
| | | I just looked at Hyperbole's album ratings; it seems like he attacks all the great albums with superb ratings (Nevermind, OK Computer, Van Halen, Black Sabbath, Whitesnake...)
| | | This review fails.The Doors rule.

Yeah, this has probably been said a million times here, but this review's rating is ridiculously low.
I would have to agree, however, that this album is overrated in a certain amount.
The End is probably the most overrated song ever. I bet millions of people would choose to hear it as their last song before they die. This is mostly due to its imago, and yeah, the first lines are very captivating indeed; "This is the end/beautiful friend...". Well I do agree that it is a special song, but musically it is far from what many people think it is. Imagine, if one didn't understand English, what would that song be? Probably "okay, some good sounds, but quite boring". I'm not making lyrics seem unimportant in music, but even if they are so brilliant in the song, they are not enough to make it deserve its praise.
| | | okay, this is your opinion and I respect it, but before bashing a whole genre, an entire musical era, and saying that the millions of people that loved this album are totaly wrong, just sit down for a moment and try to imagine why so many people love this album in the first place (and don't give me that drug crap...).
You are allowed to dislike this album, but saying that all the people that loved it are wrong and that this music is crap, just say that you don't like it and respect their opinion ( I saw that you loved the rolliong stones, I personaly don't like their music AT ALL, but I don't go around music sites saying that their music is S*** )
| | | This is perhaps one of the best reviews I ever wrote. Although it was not as good as my review of Sputnik when I returned as "ilikemusicthatsucks". Nor was it as good as my landmark speech demanding to be made a staff member that I posted in the news section.

If you don't like the genre, then don't write the review.

You don't like The Doors? Ok. It's all right. But at least you have to agree that they were a highly influential band, so their albums have a great historic importance.
