still wish it wasn't such a set regular for them

Why don't you write a personal letter explaining why you think they should remove the song from their setlist in extraordinary detail? Addressing it to Akerfeldt personally should do the trick.

Considering it's one of my favorite Opeth songs I'm fine with that. Never seen em live though but I had a chance but ditched when I found out they weren't playing any of the heavy stuff.

no damnation/heritage

I wouldn't say that at all. They're more suited to a very specific audience imo. With that in mind you have a point considering how melody driven damnation is, but in my eyes this has a great mix of soft and heavy and the keyboards make it even more safe. A metal head could like this as could someone into slightly softer rock.

i guess it depends how you define what accessible means in terms of exposure to dm and growls. is this a metalhead listening to opeth for the first time or a total noob to metal?
"as could someone into slightly softer rock."
I don't see that. from personal experience someone who hasn't listened to anything with growls won't just accept it, even from a band that blends the two styles like the peth. sure they'll acknowledge the music is great, but won't see past the vox. whereas if you introduce them to the damnation/heritage side more they'll probably dig it more

accessible not so much. i do feel that this gives anyone new to the band the best picture of what opeth does (or did), in the most concise way possible.
