Doing a discog run, figured it was time I got into these guys.

Enjoyed this fine, but it might be a grower. I definitely liked it more than the first two records, though.

What is a good place to start with these guys?

The Spectre Within. Check the debut first if you want to do a full discography listen though. That first one isn't very good imo but their discography is worth checking in full.

This was a bit hard for me to take in at first, but it's starting to grow on me. Been a while since i've worked this hard for an album, glad it's growing

One of the greatest metal bands ever. Not to mention underrated. Both eras

I don’t think they are underrated, it’s unfortunate they were in their prime at the same time as Dream Theater and Queensryche.

I think they were underrated, even though they were definitely at their peak popularity at the same time as Queensryche and Dream Theater (but with the least amount of effective promotion and activity).

For whatever reason (I've read the reasons, actually, in their book) Fates Warning went from consistently dropping albums to taking years between releases just was they were getting big, and pretty much tanked their own momentum.
