yeah people seem to dislike that song

To me, it was put on the album purely to be a single, and not a very good one, at that. I hated this album when it first came out and it finally came around to me a few years down the road, but I still don't like that song.

I bought it the week it was released, 14 years ago. I disliked it so much I actually sold it a few months down the road.
It def did a 180. I don't think I picked it back up until after the alchemy indexes were being released. I didn't love it right away, but it just kept growing on me over the years.

wow this is 14 years old isn't it

image and music box are what people seem to dislike the most. i really enjoy both though.
I think image was a weird starting track though. Like weight of glory from the red sky ep would better open this up.

I really like both of the b-sides from the Red Sky Ep. I think they would have fit in quite nicely here, especially if they would have wanted to get rid of a certain opening track.

I've never checked the ep

It's two b-sides from this and live versions of 4 songs actually on this. Both B-sides are great, and the only live cut that I thought was better than (or just as good as) original was Dust of Nations.
|
| |
yeah the two b sides are definitely album-worthy cuts

not really into live stuff myself, but id be curious to hear the b sides

Well, the live ones are all kind of re-imaginings, if you would. Also, one of them is Under a Killing Moon, which is super not from this, so my bad.
Def check out Dust and Nations since its one of your faves. It's a really cool alternate version and it is a live "in a studio" version, I think.

under a killing moon is also one of my favorite thrice songs

I am actually listening to them again cuz it's been a while. Under a Killing Moon and Red Sky are acoustic live. For Miles is a little more than just an acoustic cut. It uses a different instrument for that main riff, but I am having trouble remembering what it is called.
Xylophone, maybe?
And yeah, Dust and Nations is from an AOL session they did way back.

under a killing moon is a strange song to do an acoustic version of lol

Yeah, it's a little unnecessary. It and Red Sky are kind of meh (on the ep), but the For Miles live version is pretty neat.
