also “tell your parents it’s true: though I’d never physically hurt you, I do know some Arabic prayers” is the most gnarly fucking thing Aaron ever wrote

Never noticed that line, that’s something that he could write and pull off but probably nobody else lol

lol forreals. yeah I remember him mentioning that Wendy & Betsy is loosely about his unique relationship with his in-laws. such a good and hard-hitting line tho

Amen, the writing combined with the delivery on that (whole end of Wendy and Betsy, really) is fucking insane

Wendy & Betsy still sends a shiver

What a savage line that is too, one of Weiss' best and that's saying a lot

So many heart-wrenching lines on this. One that's hitting hard lately for me is the end of Winter Solstice: "Dear my newlywed wife, you're not the love of my life. It had already passed me by..."

probably a controversial opinion but without Michael Row Your Boat Ashore this is a 5. They just went overboard with the distortion effects to the point that I find the meat of the song to be completely obscured by it

I feel the opposite; without Michael it's not a 5. I understand your gripes with the production - you're definitely not alone - I just don't agree. The theme of the song and much of the album is an identity crisis, and the wall of distortion with the unintelligible screams captures a mental breakdown perfectly. The lyrics are really tragic if you think about it... yeah, it's tied with Rainbow Signs as my #1 mwY track.

this is their best album imo, the mix of heaviness and creativity is incredible

Still @YoYoMancuso:

I realize this will seem like a stupid self-plug, but it's the best way I can explain why Michael is a perfect song:
