That sinister chuckle at the end after the last solo... Beyond epic.

Hot take maybe but I like Brann's vocals the most out of the 3. Brent and Troy are obviously awesome but idk man something about my boy Brann. Dude is otherworldly talented.

I also think I like brann best out of the 3.

H&G was significantly better and more fleshed-out for me, and that's significant cuz this was also a noticeable step in the right direction after OMRTS. Terribad album imo

OMRTS is definitely their weakest alb. I wouldn't call it terribad but for Mastodon standards it could've been much better. Can't go wrong with The Motherload tho

I like Brann's vocals the most as well, hence this being a top 3 Mastodon for me

OMRTS was pants and this is kinda underrated - dumb commercialised fun Mastodon at probably its best. Closer and Roots Remain are up with the best of their post-Blood Mountain shit

H&G scaled back all the aspects that made this so entertaining into a self-serious slog though - defs fleshed out, in the sense of the band's man boobs abruptly sagging all the way to their beer belly

Of all the post Crack The Skye albums, this is the one I always end up coming back to.

Yeah, I think that's an accurate assessment of H&G. It's long and dour. And Jaguar God is indeed a killer cut.

Andromeda/Scorpion Breath/Jaguar God is the best three song run in the band's discog and I'm not ashamed to believe it

Best three song run for me is Hand of Stone/This Mortal Soil /Siberian Divide. I was gonna say from This Mortal Soil to Pendulous Skin because it's an amazing closer imo, but Hand of Stone hits well more often than not within the album. It also displays that Mastodon fun side but when they're a little less corny, so to speak.

I'm going Karelia/Crack the Skye/Last Baron, but I'm glad somebody gave Siberian Divide some love
