I really enjoy the atmosphere and technical ability here but do their drums have to be this annoying and loud? The album would've been a 4.5 with a different kit; the constant rumbling and overbearing snare really doesn't make this easy to listen to. It's already fucking dense and intense anyway. I can't be the only one to have a problem with the drum production here. TDOA and EIF are much more to my liking, the drum mixing was more refined and less beefy.

agreed. the production in general is the reason I haven't listened to this as much as I'd like to, the music itself is amazing.

The vinyl rip on rutracker sounds really muddy especially compared to the Vermis vinyl rip. Is Shrines just mastered that way or was it not ripped properly?

vermis does sound a bit better on wax imo, probably because it's 45rpm but it's not night and day

then again I haven't heard the rutracker rip so I dunno it might be a bad one?
