Dull and lifeless is how I'd describe a lot of SFTD. It has its moments, but sticks to a pretty samey rock formula throughout. It is considerably more flat and square than this. This album mixes up the rock with quieter moments and great production, and Rated R is full of interesting experiments.

I don't know how I didn't hear this album until about early 2015, but it has since been one of my absolute favorite rock albums of this decade. "I Appear Missing" is literally one of the greatest songs ever.)))
