Varg was a much better musician imo. But back to the film, the one who comes off the absolute worst is the guy who casually rats Euro out while playing video games, and then drives Varg to the murder scene and sits in the car smoking like the rattiest little spineless rat fuck. If I was that guy I would kill myself, how did he ever get into Mayhem lol

Blackthorn? I don't even remember him being in Mayhem. I just knew him as the lump who drove Varg to Euronymous's place.

"Its been years since ive seen it, but i dont remember it being pro-Varg at all,"

i've seen it a bunch and they just try to amplify the mystique and mysteriousness and legend of it all, that sort of ends up with varg being this misunderstood extremist, which i prefer to whatever it seems like happened lords of chaos. really think until the light takes us centers around fenriz being the reality-check though, varg being the outsider.

i'm always #TeamFenriz

how does warning someone that someone is planning to kill them look bad at all?...

lol he instantly admits that it wasn't a serious threat, then proceeds to drive the murderer there to kill him anyway. And he appears to give 0 thought to anything he's doing.

as ridiculous as Varg's beef with Euro was, that queef is arguably the reason for what happened.

he didnt say "its not a serious threat though." he said he didnt "think" he was serious, "think" being the important word. he wasnt sure. he told Varg so he could watch himself just in case. he obviously didnt think Varg was going to take that information and go and murder Euronymous. Hellhammer himself said he didn't think he had it in him to kill because he always seemed like such a polite and humble guy.

im just baffled that someone could think that warning someone their life might be in danger should be looked down upon for that.

Varg will be the main character of the sequel anyway so it'll all balance out

I'm talking strictly about the movie though. It was clearly not a serious threat, and that character never had the intention of following through with that.

keep in mind the characters in the movie are caricatures of the real life people and the film compressed years into two hours of drama so like...yeah.

yeah im talking about the movie too. Blackthorn seemed unsure on the seriousness of the threat. its obvious to the audience he didnt mean it, but clearly Blackthorn wasnt sure what to think (plus they portrayed him as a bit of an idiot).

if my friend knew that someone might be planning to murder me and didnt tell me and i found out, i probably wouldnt talk to them anymore. you seriously would expect your friend not to tell you something like that so they wont be a "rat"? lol.

edit: i just remembered that was Faust who originally heard Euronymous saying he was going to kill him and then he told Blackthorn, so Blackthorn just heard from someone else that Euronymous was planning on killing Varg. he wasnt even there to gauge how serious Euronymous was when he said it, so that just backs up my point further.

Between the 2 characters, Varg came off way more overtly crazy and murderous. And even if my friend said some uncalled for shit in the heat of the moment when I had acted like an idiot and fucked him over, I wouldn't then retaliate by driving a motivated killer over to his place just to be on the safe side.

seems to me like a waste of time discussing the motivations of background characters in a movie that was extremely liberal with its interpretation of people and events that nobody alive even probably remembers correctly to begin with

If they had showed any kind of inner turmoil with him deciding whether to tell him or not, that would be one thing, but he just off-handedly blurts it out and sets everything in motion. Basically what I'm saying is the movie is not good, things just happen for no apparent reason. Which would be fine if this wasn't a dramatized version of events. It's like it tries to have its cake and eat it too, but gets neither. Honestly one of the most frustrating movies I've seen in a few years.
