I agree on the TSOP thing, it has some great moments but as a whole falls short of Death's other material (except SH which I have slightly below it). I feel as though both those albums suffer a little from an identity crisis at times - SH was a transitional release and TSOP occasionally falls under the weight of its own prog ambition; plus the vox aren't my favourite (although they improved substantially with time). I still prefer both to that Control Denied release.

TSoP is lowest for me tbh, still a 4 but yeah. I agree with most of what you're saying though. SH was definitely a transitional release, and that shows in some parts. But overall still a great record, my only real gripe with it is the vocal effect he used. I don't even get what made him do that lol it would sound so much better without it.
