Don’t overlook Orchid or Heritage based on the averages, that’d be my advice. Both unique albums full of personality.

Jam their mid-career stuff for years and ignore their early work, realize you are big dumdum and that the only time this band ever put out bad music was during their pure prog late-career phase, make a smoothie, listen to morningrise again, take a walk, smile at a stranger, make another smoothie, jam orchid,,,,,

chrono is fine in this instance, they have a ton of quality albums and opinions vary quite wildly on what their peak is - so just start with Orchid.
I mean if you were placing restrictions I could help narrow it down (without bias for my personal favourites - i.e. BWP is essential and almost unarguably their 'critical consensus peak', yet not my personal fave).
