Aaron has been teaching full time again so I’m not sure, but part of me really hopes they’re writing something, even if it’s just for financial reasons lol

yeah mwY’s always been a cash cow. Amazing the riches they’ve found digging through dumpsters over the years

Idk, I don't see it. Listened to a podcast with their manager (great listen, btw) and the way he describes things, they are done. Too much strain on Aaron. Pod of Never episode #21 from August '20. Greg did an episode with him in October.

I can see Aaron doing a more low-key folk-oriented solo venture in a few years, especially if it doesn't carry the same obligation for touring.
And I also have high hopes that they resurrect the farewell tour and compile a live record of sorts.
But, it's highly unlikely we see any more music from mewithoutYou. I think their catalog came to a pretty natural conclusion. I'm at peace with it.

I'd love more, but Almquist said the band just writes all the music, he comes in and works with what they give him. I didn't get the impression that Aaron writes any of the music.

pretty sure the only song Aaron wrote the music to is Fig With a Bellyache so... do with that info what you will

"Aaron wrote a lot of Its All Crazy actually"
Yeah, that's my impression which is why I think a solo folk record may be an eventual likelihood.

I hadn't read that he had instrumental (lol) input on that album, but who knows. It's hard to track down that kind of information. No idea when they moved to the writing/recording style they have now except Almquist specifically mentioning Aaron had nothing to do with music-writing process by the time they recorded Pale Horses.

"Yeah, that's my impression which is why I think a solo folk record may be an eventual likelihood."
as the resident It's All Crazy defender, that would be incredibly exciting, but I also don't know how a mwY record would stand without the incredible energy the band brings to the table. I don't know if Aaron doing his own thing alone would capture the same magic.

On that note (sorta), any of you like Geology? I don't think I've heard any of it, but if anyone recommends anything from him, I'd be interested.

I want as into this as most people on Sput when it dropped. But listening to it in the midst of the chaos of current events has felt very powerful.
