Tim was on the Lambgoat podcast. He pretty much said that he thinks the best songs on the album were the ones written in the studio (I Give Up, On My Teeth) and that they won't make another album like this one. He admitted that half the album is songs Spencer wrote for Sleepwave and said that he (Tim) would never have a song like ihateit on an UO album anymore. He said he tried to give it a punk vibe but that in the end it didn't really work. Really sounded like he wants to make a heavy record at times, then he repeated the "making another heavy record is safe & boring" bs.

If he's saying I Gave Up is one of the good songs then he cant be trusted either.

I like ihateit.
Then again I don't really like Underoath all that much, so that probably makes sense.

the bridge of ihateit is dope, the rest of it i'd say is just solid Sleepwave-type writing

I hate ihateit (I know, so clever). But true. Very cringe and too edgy.

prolly cuz it's incredible to see a once-good band think making this album was a good idea for a comeback

especially considering the reversal from Safety to Define that earned the acclaim that cemented them as one of the ballsiest in core history for that switch

as someone who went to church often in those years i can tell you it was 1a) Jesus and 1b) Underoath with the cool kids when Define dropped.

“yeah, can't trust someone who thinks a simple atmospheric ballad-type track is one of the good ones amirite“
The problem isn’t that it’s an “atmospheric ballad”
The problem is that it’s shit
