“This album is mostly him being a Slim Shady wacko though“
Not to contradict you but it literally isn’t. That’s the whole concept behind the album

If slim shady lp is an episode of South Park, the Marshall Mathers lp is an episode of Cops

I mean yeah but the album has Kill You, Kim, Criminal and a bunch of other hyper violent fantasy verses scattered throughout
Really Stan, The Way I Am, Marshall Mathers and Who Knew are the MM tracks, but even those (with the exception of Stan) have over the top insane verses that obviously arent literal

The Slim Shady LP is better, yeah. That one is overrated too though.

"Has not aged well imo"
This Album is the definition of a album aging well. Will always be a easy 5

Drug Ballad and Bitch Please 2 make this album
agree with some of the comments that SSLP might be a tad above this one

Drug Ballad is legit one of his best tracks imo, I’m not gonna say it’s slept on but compared to a lot of his other tracks it def feels a little underrated

On the other hand... man I had to skip Kim. Unlistenable. Appreciate the artistic approach but hearing it once was always going to be enough

Em hasn't aged as well as a lot of other top mcs. I don't think he's even top 10 of all time anymore he used to be top 5 for me growing up. Still a great tho and his first 3 are quality albums especially this one

I love Kim as a track even though I can admit making a song about killing your real life wife/mother of your daughter in detail on an album that you know millions are going to hear is some ridiculously heinous shit

Its a classic but there's like 30 other hip hop 5's that are harder 5's.
