This was head-to-head with Panopticon for me, but then it got to my spine like only few albums do. Since then there hasn’t been a spin when I didn’t feel the urge to stop whatever I was doing and think this is unbelievable, can’t get any better.

I like this one just a tad more than Panopticon, but both are classic.

Celestial might be just as good as Panopticon. A different kind of beast, but its rawness is very appealing.

first time? Wow, exciting! Yes indeed it is!
Dangerously close (stands closest) to the potential unicorn of a 'dual-5' cos Panopticon > ... but this is most likely deserving also and I need to stop doing such things.

Yup first time!!! My only experience with post metal in general are a couple Neurosis/Rosetta jams 10+ years ago and I could hardly tell you much about either. Figured w the new Neurosis its as good of a time to do a proper dive. This rocked my fuckin world driving home from the mountains last night. I'd consider the rare insta 5 tbh but I'm gonna hold off

this one took longer for me than Panop. like, The Other is so jagged and the vocals are so ugly that I often skipped it. but now that I know that end section is coming, it makes sense. the lurching 4-over-3 time signature is just straight creeping paranoia that perfectly illustrates the song's themes of betrayal and existential crisis.
