What a treat to commute into work with when it's pitch-black out!

^ It makes so many contexts feel all cinematic!

>Driving in the pitch black/rain is stressful.
It's the funnest time to drive. Also Silent Hill-tier fog and fresh snow.

Ard, driving in the rain is such a bitch when you can’t see anything and the wipers can’t clear fast enough
Having to pull over sucks too when you don’t know how the other drivers are gonna handle shit

I love it. But it's because I love chaos

That fits your avatar really well!

my eyes already aren't great, and I succumb to glares, so it's not fun for me either. We have snow on the ground now too so it's extra stressful. A quick puff + Mezzanine actually made it intriguing.

^ Relatable. Do you happen to have an astigmatism? Shit sucks sometimes.
|
| |
Thankfully I don't think so! It's just a lot harder for me to tell what's going on while driving and having all sorts of high-contrast visuals, like tail lights and store signs and, the worst, the high-beams or otherwise modified headlights of insecure manbabies in jacked-up trucks.
I can drive no problem anywhere in the day, even places I've never driven before, but it's like at night I can only truly focus on what's right in front of me and it makes it a pain to navigate.
Do you have astigmatism? The example images online (usually of bright lights at night) approximate it but I don't seem to have any problems during the day outside of being extremely nearsighted.

@Nomos
Ahhh, the high-beams and shit kill me too, dude. I’m also nearsighted, but I only recently found out I had an astigmatism in my right eye when I was trying to read my prescription and had to Google shit and went “wut.”
I always thought the glare was just regular eye shit, but my glasses (and previously, contacts) compensated as much as they could, I guess. Because, I don’t get any glare during the day either, but at night, it can be like someone turned the Christmas lights way the hell up. I don’t usually close my left eye while driving, so I didn’t realize the difference.
If driving at night, it really depends on the area and the overall lighting/contrast. In the rain at night, or a lot of taillights, or high-beams, police lights, etc. my palms sweat and I chain smoke. So, it may not be all the eyes, but they don’t make it any more comfortable.

Wow that's good info! Maybe I'll try some A-B testing with each eye at different times of day to see. I guess I always assumed the "smears" of light were contributed solely by my glasses and my windshield but I may be a little wrong.
Def worse when it rains. The way that liquid distorts light makes trying to drive at night in the rain like a funhouse.
|
| |
Same on the windshield, too. I figured the smear was from dirt and febreze (which, probably was too).
But yeah, it might help to find out and maybe make it a bit easier for ya. According to Google, it can only stay the same or worsen with age, but be easily corrected in the moment with glasses/contacts, so regular eye exams (something I am not at all good with myself) should keep things as even as they can, should you have an astigmatism
