I know it is nowhere close but I think I am ready for a new album now. Just can't get enough of this band really.

Well maybe next year.

In the meantime, we have EL VY to look forward to

Yeah, there's that.

I can hardly think of a recent band with a streak as ridiculous as this one really. They just can't seem to be able to make anything bad or even average.

Well let's not forget their debut.

But yeah I'm glad we have EL VY coming up.

A streak doesn't mean we include their whole discography. Talking about the great albums they have released in a row.

I don't think there's a more consistent band out there at the moment, nearly a decade of near perfection.

I don't include debut in their streak but it's proof that they're not gods. Sad Songs isn't my favorite either. But there's hardly a weak moment from Alligator to this.

Radiohead has Pablo Honey. You can be a great band with a bad/mediocre record or two in your discography.

Absolutely. Almost every artist falls off after a decade or two but I consider artists about as great as their pinnacle, unless their weak stuff is just god awful and there's a lot of it.

Sure, I think it is normal especially when a band is still sort of finding themselves and maturing together as musicians to have a few not so stellar albums in the beginning.

Tbh many of the most consistently great artists have really weak debuts.

Then sometimes they run of juice towards the end and they are not as great as they used to be. That doesn't take anything away from them and what they accomplished before when they were at their peak.

I almost think it's more impressive that they worked to move from that album to where they are now

And then there's the inverse: bands that release like a single good album -- like they just knew what to do -- and then never again made good music and got progressively worse? I'm thinking DJ Shadow here, why does that happen?

I agree. If you had told me after hearing only that debut that they would have made anything as good as any of their past 4 albums I would have laughed at you.
