Whenever my phone battery hits 43% I hear Dimitri in my head. Probably not healthy.

for me it was love at first...note?

was shown this when I was still in school and I couldn't believe how bloody hard it goes. for me it was pretty revolutionary.

I hated this on first listen, won't lie. Mostly the vox. I still dislike a lot of core vox but Dimitri is a beast.

I feel sorry for the people who think metallica is the heaviest thing on earth and haven't listen meshuggah or dillinger

first song I heard was 43% burnt and I just couldn't believe music could be played like that. made all other music I'd heard sound so soft in comparison.

@Rodrigo: I mean, this is ferocious more-so than heavy, it is heavy but if I wanted to show someone the true power of heavy music then this wouldn't be my go-to album or band. I'd probably try Incantation, Cryptopsy, Crowbar etc.

Did I say heavy enough?

'heavy' is kind of hard to define at times. I mean if you go by loudness, Sunn 0))) would probably be the heaviest band. or by bassiness, then Meshuggah or some djent band probably. chaotic, then this fits the bill. if brutal than incantation isn't a bad pick. and so on.

this felt kinda basic and almost not noteworthy after listening to their later albums first

@osmark

Guess so yeah, I'd call this ferocious and chaotic. It's definitely heavy so I suppose ranking or gauging heaviness is kind of futile. Haha

the staying power this has for me is the rawness of this release. it feels more unhinged and less controlled than a lot of their latter releases imo. almost like some of the tracks could derail at any minute.

@demon:

hahaha I guess, but it's just one of those things us metalheads love to talk about so I suppose it's still universally understood. the goddam heaviness of riffs.

In any case I'm pretty sure that if you showed this to someone who basically hasn't explored metal beyond Metallica, then they'd think that this was heavy af. most likely though they probably would be turned off by it initially/indefinitely because it's so chaotic as you say.
