I kinda hate this album. Some decent songs but good lord the lyrics. And he obviously just culled it together from dozens of disparate sessions, leading to an incoherent mess. And then the whole releasing it, and going in and fixing it thing... lame. People framing it as a "living, evolving piece of music" and such were just grasping at straws imo.
Wolves was TERRIBLE in the first iteration of this album. Such a letdown that really left a mark, even after he "fixed" it.
It just feels like a cynical album scrapped together because people were expecting an album a few years after Yeezus.

I like most of the lyrics to this album 🤷‍♀️ Saint Pablo is my favorite song from him lyrically
The run from Waves to the end is probably my favorite stretch of music by Kanye and there’s other really great songs before it like Feedback with layers of the beat coming in and out or the great energy and beat on Highlights, the absurdity of Famous and the great Rihanna appearance. Idk I don’t see what people hate so much about it. I guess I used to be in the boat but I think it’s an amazing album

I’ve had no desire to check Jesus Is King. Only song I heard was Closed On Sundays and it was uhh weak

"could've been MBDTW 2 if not for filler songs"
highs could be a bit higher for this to be the case as well but it's def the closest we've gotten to such a thing

I mostly return to 30 Hours, Real Friends, and No More Parties

I like a handful of songs too, but as an album this fucking blows. He totally lost his mojo and he knew it, which is why he tried to make so many last minute changes.
No More Parties is a career highlight tho.

good album. hard to evaluate: it's clearly a holding action compared to yeezus and MBDTF, and it's clearly more just a collection of songs than anything else, but I like most of them and REALLY like some of them. probably a 4
