Human has some amazing feels and fills and the speed is blinding. However, this record offers drumming that complements the music itself in a better way. Therefore, theyre tied in my books.
@mikeytunney Finally! Great decision ;)

Completely agreed with 50iL on the drumming, Hoglan really knew how to complement the rest of the music. Human is close, but this album has an overall better drum performance in my view.

Album Rating: 3.5
Hoglan is probs the most interesting drummer ever in extreme metal tbh, guys a monster

his work on darkness descends is kinda terrible tho. it's only that typical generic thrash dadadadadadadadadaddadadadaa tjshtjsh

Album Rating: 3.5
Whaaat nah I really couldn't disagree more man Darkness Descends is like the ultimate thrash drumming record. Gene and Dave Lombardo went faster and harder than anyone else back in 86

faster + harder =/= better
it's bland, boring and exhausting at the same time

86 was really the year that metal drumming started going stratospheric, after that it just kept getting better and better thanks to those guys laying the foundation. Yeah slaughter had such a dope groove Balls, need to jam that album again soon

im into the lighter side of thrash. thrash doesn't have to have slayer drumming or something u know. bonded by blood is pretty thrashy while still listenable
