Something about how the avg ratings of each Anberlin album were within a certain number of each other or the average rating of each went up on each release, but whatever it was it wasn't even correct to begin with.

i honestly think everything is more or less alright in their ratings. i mean there are obviously some of these that deviate quite a bit from my personal ratings, but as far as aggregate ratings which include non-fanboys, everything is pretty much where i'd expect it to be.

except i could agree dark is the way is a little low. to me it's about as quality as NTFP...

the narrative around anberlin presently is that cities is a masterpiece and dark is the way is their weakest post-blueprints effort, which is why cities' rating has been going up and dark is the way's has been going down (iirc Cities was 3.9 when i joined about 4 years ago)

As far as an average goes yeah they're pretty spot on but personally Dark is the Way trumps NTFP and maybe even Vital. There is some brilliant music on there

But yeah average opinion always seems to hold DITW down which is a shame

Dark Is The Way is their least accessible album, but it grows on you after time and each song individually is awesome. It is regarded as their worst album, but was made during their biggest run in the mainstream spotlight.

Dark is the Way is inaccessible? I always thought the whole U2-ish arena rock was their most accessible sound.

I guess the rockers aren't very accessible though---We Owe This and To The Wolves aren't as melodic as their other rockers, most notably The Feel Good Drag and Paperthin Hymn.

It just feels so spaced-out and full of room compared to their other albums I love it
