much prefer the more artsy and aggressive direction of Neurosis past because these tracks blend into each other far too much

i'd say this is probably the most 'artsy' thing they ever did but otherwise vaguely agreed, their least impressive since Enemy or maybe earlier

hmmm interesting. hadn't thought about Neurosis production in a long while or maybe ever, but now you mention it this is maybe also my least fave of their classics in that dept along with Times of Grace (which I love, but also remember being a tad dry because I never DIY'd an ambient-side dualmix fuck)

also STNS was more engaging in the mixture of ambient and heavy than this by a mile

I do prefer astns to this, but that's like a top 10 all time album for me. This is probably top 30ish.
This is also a grower ledd. Took me years to fully get into this

Weird cos I fell in love with this one first listen, their most accessible record tbh.
TSIB, ASTNS and GTTR took far more listens to appreciate, they're way more impenetrable than this.
