in no universe is Absence better than this

and yeah, agreed that not liking this is v on brand for turner, doesn't have the same bracing qualities he's usually game on. man knows his craft - on the other hand, most of haughm's best (and worst) moments seem to come from places a million miles from self-awareness so idk if there was much of an expectation for him to be a good judge of anything

“So, for me, though I’m glad that other people have gotten something out of some of the ISIS records that I don’t feel really good about, which would be the last two….. I’m glad they exist for the people who enjoy them. For me, personally, I wish Panopticon had been the last record [laughs]. To put that bluntly.” /AT

(@NormalOctagon).

Also, when the interviewer broaches the cleaner production and whether that was also something he disliked about WR, he says:

“Yeah. I mean, I have qualms about just about every aspect, so, yeah, the production was an issue for me for sure.”

This album has god tier production imo, but sure, some people prefer it raw like Celestial and Oceanic. Strange that AT's okay with Panop because it does have a clean sound, the man is a puzzle lmao but I still love his work

Yeah this is their pinnacle imo.

And since when do you trust the creator when it comes to the quality of the finished piece? They’re far too close to what they created, so you often have to take these things with a large pinch of salt.
