anyway, my argument defending the album:



the atmosphere protruding from this album is so cold yet so familiar at the same time. on the surface everything here seems so detached, which seems to be something a lot of people have a problem with. but i think it really helps creative a beautiful and depressing mood-- something that the whole concept of the album is about. the interludes and preludes, with their fairly minimalistic instrumentation and seemingly failure to connect with the listener, help to represent that young guy the album's talking about. so you can say a lot of these songs seem like half-baked ideas and fail to really go anywhere, it's because they're really not supposed to be super theatrical or perfected or even thoroughly-jammed by the audience. it adds to the theatricality, and that's really the most important part of a concept album aside from telling a story
