Huge respect for Talk Talk, but everything I want from them I get twice as much from Pendulum Man

“Pendulum Man” would not be my big pick from Hex but I can get that Talk Talk doesn’t quite have anything like that track so if that’s your jam I kinda get it.

ngl I picked that track because it has more in common with Talk Talk than anything else on the album (and because it's the best ;])

Hah funny. Not necessarily the space for this discussion but “Pendulum Man” is more fully ambient than any Talk Talk I’d say.

anyone that perpetuates the mbv vs slowdive conversation is my enemy n just look at that summary ! barely comparable, much like Pygmalion to hex or laughing stock

Blue skied is basically I believe in you (which explains why it's slowdive's best song)

Talk Talk and Bark Psychosis were definitely influential on Pygmalion but that album is also very much its own beast imo.

This is true. There was almost a whole scene of Pygmalion-core bands on Darla records around the turn of the century

And Machine Gun is the 2nd best song named Machine Gun ever.

Dagger is best tho 🥰

Maybe they should’ve named more tracks after deadly weapons?

Perhaps!
I do agree that Portishead's Machine Gun is *the* best song named "Machine Gun" :^)
