You have an awesome mother
For the record, my mom likes Gojira, Dream Theater, Symphony X, Death, Opeth, and a whole litany of other prog/extreme metal bands

Johan De Farfalla now works for the Christian Conservative Party of Sweden. He is also a project manager and after leaving Opeth went back to play fusion and jazz music.

mendez and lopez old band had their music remastered somewhat recently (like few months ago) some label put out a newer version of it but can't remember the name of the project, it was before either were in opeth, they made music together. It's kind of strange how both guys ended up in Sweden and joining Opeth, all the way from South America.

I love that they give the bass prominence amongst the mix.

The last 5 minutes of Advent is the best I've heard from these so far, but I didn't think much about the song as it was getting there.

they may take more than a listen or two but orchid and morningrise are undoubtedly some of the band's very best
|
| |
One thing I will say about this vs Orchid so far is I don't think Mikael's vocals are as good here (though maybe being unfair as I'm at work with a different set up) but boy am I glad they got rid of the echoey production.
I don't expect to pick everything up one just one listen, all good prog takes multiple run throughs to fully 'get'

Occasionally, a band comes along that creates so much more than just musical sounds. That band takes you away to another place – a place that feels so peaceful it’s like a realm within your own spirit. It’s a place where you can explore your own mind, find out who you are as a person, and reflect on the events in your life that made you who you are. It’s bands like this that allow people to lay down, turn on the music, close their eyes, and think… almost contemplate the meaning of anything that means anything to you as a person. Make no mistake; these bands are an extreme rarity. It’s unfortunate that musicians like these don’t often gain a great deal of popularity because the music is often above and beyond what people expect of artists. Opeth is easily the greatest of all of these borderline spiritual artists

Agreed.

To Bid you farewell is awesome too. Enjoyed this more than Orchid and tbyf ends the album much better than Apostle ends Orchid

anyone else prefer The Night and the Silent Water to the admittedly quite lovely To Bid U 4well?
