why do people like duckworth? sounds like kenny trying to channel his inner shitty J Cole
also the story of that song is lowkey kinda lame, it doesn't sound like Ducky was at risk of getting shot at all, just pussily gave some gangbangers free chicken
With this album and black panther, I find the cuts where he isn't trying to tell us anything substantial are the ones I want to go back to

can we all agree that NATION. (of Wakanda) is the most important hip hop album of 2018?
|
| |
SUPPORT YOUR WAKANDAN NATIONALIST IDENTITY. fr tho I'm in this film studies class where we learn about like nationalist cinema artwork, and BP soundtrack is definetly hella nationalist and propagandic, which is ironic seeing that everyone thought he would release an alb called NATION

Kendrick Lamar produced the film's curated soundtrack, titled Black Panther: The Album, along with Top Dawg Entertainment founder Anthony Tiffith. Black Panther director Ryan Coogler chose Lamar for the project because his "artistic themes align with those we explore in the film."[1] Lamar was initially only going to work on a few songs for the film, but after he watched a majority of the film, he decided to create the album. Sounwave, a producer on the album, said that "the production, the hooks and ideas" for the album were created in August 2017 when Lamar was on The Damn Tour. When the tour concluded the following month, the effort began to "execute our ideas and reach out to people" to appear on the album.[2] The album and Lamar's involvement was teased as an easter egg in Lamar's music video for his single "Love" in late December 2017, with a clapperboard reading "B.Panther soundtrack coming soon".[3]

the facts are all there. kendrick was already writing NATION. when he was approached by Ryan Coogler. Coogler was like "dude thats crazy i am also doing a project about a NATION. and black people". The original ideas and hooks for the album were written on The Damn tour. Kenny agreed to do a couple songs for the film but then when he watched the whole thing he was like HOLY FUCK THIS IS MY ALBUM IN MOVIE FORM and so he decided to just finish NATION. and release it as the Black Panther soundtrack because he is a genius

Why do people call black panther a Kendrick album? He's on like 5 songs
|
| |
because he wrote it and has production credits on a bunch and raps on some too.
Honestly when most rappers dont make their own beats or do anything other than rap on their music id say kenny has more ownership of that record than most modern rappers have of their own work.

This is so lame after listening to TPAB [2]
Only Kendrick stans think this is good. Anyone who listens objectively realizes how lazy of an effort this album is, especially when compared to TPAB.

Meh. Kendrick crawled up his own ass on TPAB. Shit was a fun listen for a few weeks then the novelty wore off. GKMC and S.80 are waaaaay superior and this has way more replay value than TPAB.

I can see how you'd feel that way. I think TPAB is best enjoyed if listened to sparingly.
