Honestly I've never been able to make it through that record either. I don't think it's bad, but it just drags on a lot. I like some death/doom like Autopsy or Incantation, but those bands are more death with some doom thrown in. Transcendence into the Peripheral is the opposite, mostly doom with some death thrown in, and in general I'm not the biggest fan of doom.
