James does rule but he has MANY cheesy moments, which are also kind of adorable. The Big 4 show sticks out..."Wow! Now that was a METAL MOMENT"

Yeah, he's a good guitar player, too. Too bad they can't make any good new songs, though. His talent is wasted in this band, imo.

Very true but cut him some slack lol; he was an old man by that point, not a 25-year old fire-pisser anymore.

True, aha - he also had a hilariously dorky moment live recently but I'm blanking on what it was - sifting through YouTube now to find it

He fell through the stage recently, they have things that come up from the floor, and the tile was down and he didn't realise and fell into it.

I watched Some Kind of Monster about a month ago and it struck me how pushed to the side Kirk is lol.

I remember my friends and I traveled like an hour and a half to see that in theaters to the only showing near us back in the day - mostly just because we heard Dave Mustaine cried. But yeah, Kirk has like 0 power in that band lmao

I'm listening to this right now with bass-boosted EQ and bass-boosted high-end headphones. I can finally hear the bass really well in the mix, and it's not as overbearing as the Justice for Jason mix, lol

The bass lines are fucking sick on this album, making it all the more frustrating

there's a scene in that documentary where they're in the kitchen and I swear Kirk was trying to peak out at the camera from behind a bowl of fruit or something. Like "hee hee guys you can't see me." It was the best part if I remember right.

Put those same EQ settings on some Dre Beats and now you're in business

over time I've seemed to prefer slayer morbid saint etc

Metallica selling out a parody of themselves sadly takes away some of the trueness of their early stuff

dre beats for metal? That's like wearing colorful clothing while eating a banana at a metal show.

This recent mix is probs my favourite sounding version of this album. Bass is easily audible, but doesn't drown out everything else like Justice for Jason.
