A darker album? Eh Adelaide is pretty lighthearted but Whisper is pretty "dark" too I think, or at least the style of the vocals in the verses.

Unless you mean lyrically?

I love the lyrics to Whisper. I felt like that would have been great to advertise the album with. Not even a single just a 15 second commercial.

I do mean lyrically. Whisper starts out dark sound wise, but I mean...."CLAP YOUR HANDS ALL YE CHILDREN" doesn't sound dark at all! lol

haha I know what you meant but I just went ahead and started testing track order (from 5-9) and that appealed to me quite a bit

Haha yeah fair enough, although I'd say getting rid of Adelaide and Inevitable would go a lot further in making it dark lyrically. "There's a clamoring in your whispering" and "Hear what the silence screams" at least can be interpreted as dark. "I want to be your last first kiss" can't really lol

Well you've convinced me, but Inevitable also says "we only end up hurting the ones we really love" or something like that.

Everything but the chorus of Adelaide is great. Honestly, those verses (some of Nate's best/innovative drum work, strong melodies from Stephen) and that freakin' flawlessly poppy bridge ("oh whoa-oh!") make me want to love the song, but that chorus is so uninventive.

The drums are the best part of that song.

I used to not like the chorus of Adelaide too but one day I just got over it. Uninventive is fair but that doesn't stop it from being enjoyable. Though, with a chorus as good as the rest, it would be a top track instead of one of the three worst (after Hello Alone and There is No Math...)

And yeah, the drum work is great. I usually don't notice drums so that says something lol.

I for one like it a real lot and there's quite a bit of nostalgia attached to this one, but I still find it pretty surprising sput loves this one so much.
