“ I even think "call out" is putting it in a more confrontational context than how he meant it.”

“Metallica is not here like some other “entertainers” to influence you with our bullshit”

I’m really trying not to be a dickhead but he could’ve done a much better job of it if he didn’t want to be confrontational.

ever hear of playing to the crowd? they cheered btw, shocking i know. if you take offense to such a generic statement then i have no idea how you function in society.

why broadcast that you’re not going to gEt PoLiTiCaL when you could just not mention politics at all and achieve the same thing without being an arrogant douche

ultimately anyone that looks up to Metallica for political opinions and social commentary is stupid as fuck but just the same stupid douches do need to be called out for being stupid douches

I miss pre-Christianity Megadave, he had some decently smart political songs. I really dont mind a band talking about what they believe in, “division’’ be damned. People who screech about politics in their music are fragile, that’s all Ill say.

I think that conversely a big band like Metallica has almost no power to change anyone's mind anyway. Like a local or regional scene where there's a culture of left politics is going to have a lot more power to encourage people to get involved or change their mind than a big legacy act who most people have no relationship with other than nostalgia and attending massive shows a few times in their life. So your local crust band being like 'Fuck Trump, there's info about defending ourselves from ICE at our booth' or whatever is gonna go further than Hetfield making some milquetoast critique anyway.

It is odd how being normal is controversial nowadays, eh?

being apolitical in public used to be the standard for most people. not everyone wants to take a stand or should, most people are idiots. the world was a much better place when we didn't know or care about the politics of every person in our lives. growing up is realizing that politics and how good of a person you are have almost no overlap.

Justice's political songs, as well as the ones on this album and Puppets, are about upholding freedom, ultimately. It is consistent with the recent comment at the concert.

oh I wasn’t aware a metric fuck ton of shit from those records aren’t shit people on the left advocate for?

Again, it just makes him seem like a fucking hack. I don’t give two shits if somebody wants to be apolitical, but taking potshots at other artists and announcing your bravery is soft as baby shit

who said he thinks it's brave? it's just what they choose to do. and like i said it's play to the crowd and got a huge cheer.

"We are here — no bullshit — we're here to forget about all the outside shit, OK?"

wow how harmful

"And I just gotta say, Metallica is not here, like some other 'entertainers', to influence you with their bullshit, OK? We are here — no bullshit — we're here to forget about all the outside shit, OK? Metallica's agenda is love, energy and heavy music, baby!"

do you think he's literally calling what they're saying bullshit? it's just a vulgar way to say "political shit" without even saying politics. honestly it is even a less divisive way of saying it. this is obvious.
