I used to think Wreath was kind of disappointing, but it was aggressively okay last time I checked. Progress.

Yeah exactly. It was the last of those three that clicked for me, after years of listening. Those riffs during the ending seconds are a weird fave moment of their discog for me. How they run into the t/t. Super cool.

It’d be crazy weird if this eventually out-fought Blackwater for the honour of not finishing last in my ‘metal era’ Opeth ranks.

Truth. A hidden gem, as far as that's possible for Opeth.

I always thought that the growling on this album sounded really off. Does anyone know what happened?

Fatigue probably. 5 albums in 6 years and touring? Yea that'd do it

The growls sound a little better on the remix version though and a lot better on ghost reveries.

Everything from these two albums has been made much better in the remix. The remix is absolutely how this duo should have been tbqh

I really like half of this album, and the other half I have serious problems with. But the three songs I enjoy are so good that I lean a bit on the positive side overall

It was at the second solo of wreath that I realized that I am intellectually inferior to this band and anyone who listens to them

I'm about to start diving into Opeths discography again for the first time since probably back in 08 or 09. I started with this one when I joined sput back in the day. What do you guys recommend I start with this time around. Was considering either this, My Arms Your Hearse, Still Life or Blackwater Park
