I think their "heavy" stuff is the least interesting aspect of their sound, which is why Blood Eagle does nothing for me. Spencer's harsh vox lose their appeal real quick when they take center stage, and that style of riffing really isn't my cup of tea unless it's accompanied by something more interesting. Despite being a long time fan of this band I have never really been on the DJUNZ bandwagon.

but they cranked the distortion up even more and made the guitars go "blelelel" between the chugs which makes it ok

honestly they literally SHOULD have made a concept album about reptile, blows my mind that they DIDN'T go that route, it seems like such a no brainer

So IMO they should have made HAIL STAN an EP and made a concept album all about Reptile

I think they are definitely at fault for releasing an album such as this with such an epic opener in Reptile to follow up with a multitude of "mediocre" songs by comparison. I do have this album rated a 4.5/5 because I am admittedly a sucker for any Periphery content, but I can't deny that the sequence in which they released these songs is slightly off the mark
