Pitchfork called the new one "unexceptional, diluted alt-metal" and gave it a 5.7.

“” Pitchfork called the new one "unexceptional, diluted alt-metal" and gave it a 5.7.””
Pretty much guaranteed an 80% score [at a minimum] everywhere else then.

Yeah Pitchfork has been more aggressively ignorant than usual with reviews this year, wish someone would tell those dork chumps to stfu some times

for the length of the new record, it doesn't really seem to have much, if any, for filler. and i love the way brann's vocals sound. they're what, more subdued? like he's using more of his lower range and not everything is a pop-anthem sounding performance. my biggest complaint is the lack of brent vocals. that's a big letdown for me

sput metal is one giant yes-man pushover, so pitchfork hammering down a few wonky nails is just karma for a broken world
we deserve this

Johnny should just change his name to Buzz Killington
|
| |
you are locked in a spiral of disappointment there is no hype there is just palovian dick training and paper thin riffs 😢
|
| |
The beast with that slow southern twang riff is so good.
|
| |
Yeah The Beast is easily one of the best tracks
And it's not just metal Johnny lol, their World Is A Beautiful Place review fucking sucked too, and don't even get me started on the utter abomination that is their excuse for a review of Donda

Skeleton of Splendor has the greatest intro ever. Literally sounds like the album art

I was expecting some mushy boring music from some of the takes I've seen from people. Turns out it's their best since Crack the Skye.
|
| |
It's mushy boring music with a lot of their best moments since CtS
I think I hate Sickle and Peace lol, the opening 5 tracks would indeed be a stellar run without that beige as hell stinker
