"No way on earth this is better then Koi"
Agreed. Koi is honestly my favorite Deftones record.

This album would have higher ratings if the production wasn't so airy, or spacious, that's the only way I can really describe the production, every instrument sounds too spaced out from one another

I wish it was spacious. It's mastered way too loud and none of the instruments have room to breathe.

the only reason it sounds spacious is because the drums are so quiet they sound like they're a million miles away

apparently sergio vega played a 6 string bass for this album, but none of it ever stands out

I think there's some depth to lmirl but other than that, it doesn't do much

I love the variety of songs on this album. There are some really weird moments and, even though it's a deftones record, there were parts that genuinely surprised me in a good way. Koi was good but there a couple of tracks that don't do much for me.

(L)MIRL starts off amazingly but when it gets all "anthemic" & major-key it kinda loses me
just sort of feels like a jarring change of mood to me

L(mirl) is perfect as it is.

I'd always considered SNW to be their most "drugged out" album, but this one feels a little bit more so to me, and certainly not in a bad way.

I like how everyone here over-hyped this from day 1, meanwhile I was struggling to like it and was finding faults with it, and then as time passed it grew a lot on me, but then everyone else seemed to start disliking it. It's a classic Deftones record for me, in the sense of it takes time to grow and to find every little neat aspect about it, not sure why it got backlash on sputnik really.
